USC Meets Hilfiger Denim

Hilfiger Denim is the edgy expression of the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Its fashion-forward designs are inspired by American classics and finished with a modern twist and a fresh, youthful spirit. We caught up with Hilfiger Denim Sales Manager, Sheena Hills, to get the latest on their mens & womens slim jeans.
Q. What do you do at Tommy Hilfiger?
I am the Sales manager for Hilfiger Denim. My role focuses on growing the brand with key partners in the UK.
I manage our amazing UK Sales: team Jennifer Adair and Jonathan Chamberlain otherwise known as ‘Team Blonde’! The team sell the latest Hilfiger collections to buyers from our London based showroom. After selling the collections we focus on pushing the brand within all stores: independent, department and multiple stores.
Our aim is to help our partners sell Hilfiger product really well in store and make Hilfiger Denim (THD) the number one denim brand in the UK.

Q. How long have you been in the company?

Q. What do you like about Hilfiger Denim?
Hilfiger Denim has its own unique selling point that no other denim brand has, we are ‘young prep denim with an edge’. It’s a young, fresh, preppy denim brand. I love the passion of the entire team across Europe. The passion is matched by the care that goes into making a pair of THD denims, which makes it the best denim brand to work for.

Q. What is your favourite part of your job?
I love that every day is different. My role includes seeing our customers in the Knightsbridge showroom, visiting different stores across the UK and seeing the collection come to life on the shop floor. I also visit our European Head Office in Amsterdam to see new collections and ensure they are right for the UK market according to what has sold the season before. We also need to keep on top of UK trends and ensure that we translate them in a ‘Tommy’ way.
The great thing about working in fashion is that it is always changing. There is always a new collection to understand and to love!

Q. Why are the Hilfiger Denim Slim Fit & Skinny styles so amazing?
Each pair of Tommy Jeans is carefully considered at every stage of its life process. From design and construction to the selection of fabrics, we ensure the highest quality and great attention to detail. At Hilfiger Denim we select the finest yarns and cotton to achieve the best results from a design and aesthetic point of view. We have our own specialised denim pattern makers who create and develop unique fits, taking into consideration our consumers’ different body shapes. Our current focus is perfecting the slim fit denim.
All denims are named after peoples’ names:
Slim Fit Mens: Sidney, Scanton and Ryan
Slim Fit Womens: Sophie, Natalie and Suzy

To create a pair of slim fit or skinny denims takes approx. 1.5 metres of denim fabric, several hundred metres of sewing thread, 4 rivets, 1 jean button, 3 labels, a leather patch and zipper.
We use a wide variety of wash techniques to achieve a worn-in vintage look to our denims, ensuring that each pair is unique. Finally to complete our denims we brand them clearly with the Tommy Flag on the right 5th coin pocket and on the back pocket.
Hilfiger Denim Mens slim fits are wearable and can still be worn by a guy with bigger calf and thighs. The idea of ‘slim’ denim means wearing jeans that looks a little cleaner, crisper and smarter yet is not necessarily super skinny.
Hilfiger Denim Womens fits are slim and skinny. We use power stretch in our denim to ensure it looks great and fits close to the body yet feels great and ultra-comfortable to wear too.
