The Golden Globes: Red Carpet Style

We love awards season and the Golden Globes did NOT disappoint! Anything that allows us to watch Jennifer Lawrence photobombing Taylor Swift and brings together Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio & Channing Tatum in one place is fine with the ladies in the USC Office…

It was great to see American Hustle take home Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture and our new favourite, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, win the Best TV Comedy Series. Also Bryan Cranston got the Best Actor in a TV Drama Series for his performance as Walter White in Breaking Bad and 12 Years a Slave stole the show and won Best Drama Motion Picture. However, Despicable Me 2 lost out on Best Animated Feature Film to Frozen (We think they were robbed..!)

Instead of sticking to the old format of fashion stars and fashion fails, we wanted to celebrate only the best of the best – and show you how to get inspired by their red carpet looks.

Emma Roberts killed it in a beautiful black dress, proving you really can’t out-do a classic. Don’t shy away from form-fitting shapes - if you're feeling confident, the AX Paris PU Dress will hug your curves and create a beautiful silhoutte. However, If you would rather something less figure hugging, the G Star Marlyn Top has a great peplum to cover your tummy, but stick to something skinny fit on the bottom like the Glamorous Dance Pants. For another take on the look, go strapless with a full skirt in Motel’s Glamour Prom Spot Dress.

If you can’t rock some serious embellishment on the red carpet, when can you? Zoe Salanda stood out from the crowd in her Prabal Gurung SS14 gown which was covered in Swarovski crystals. If you're looking to really turn some heads, the At Republic Turtleneck Embellished Dress is definitely for you! A slinky black bodycon fit with some decadent jewels around the shoulders and neck. Another show stopping look comes in the form of the At Republic Gem Embellished Cami Top and the Mini Embellished Skirt. The combination of these two heavily embellished pieces is sure to sparkle – remember to keep other accessories minimal though, this outfit doesn’t need any extras! For something softer, pair the At Republic Daisy Embellished Top with the SoulCal Netted Skirt.

Kate Beckinsale’s dress was a dream this year, we can really support a lady who knows how to wear metallics. The simple silhouette of the dress means the intricate details look effortless instead of over done. To pull off this look, all your need is a glitzy dress, a laid-back updo, perfect nails and a sneaky fake bake! Our favourite dresses to nail the metallic trend in are; At Republic Sequin Dress, At Republic Bow Prom Dress and the AX Paris Sequined Wrap Dress.

So that’s our top picks of the best, if we had to chose a lady who didn’t do quite as well as hoped, we would need to call out Miss Hayden Panettiere – that Tom Ford dress was not her finest moment! Time to get back to work – until the Academy Awards that is…
