SS14 Footwear Trends

SS14’s footwear offering has upped it’s game – it’s no longer just about flip flops and ballet flats, if you want to be on-trend this season you need to work some of the latest key styles into your wardrobe. Check out our edit of the shoes you should be wearing this Summer and the best items to pair them with…

Following on from fashion editors ditching their designer heels during Fashion Week and instead opting for on-trend running style trainers, the fashion elite are not ready to give up on comfort just yet – so this Summer everyone’s wearing pool sliders. The Nike Benassi pair are a fashion blogger favourite – team them with a fringe kimono and tiger print swimsuit for the perfect beach look.

Boots with cut-outs were big news in the Winter – that trend seems set to continue in Summer with cut-out sandals giving it a warm-weather twist. White shoes are a key style for the season, so try the Firetrap Carlotta Sandals which have a luxe vibe due to their mock croc embossed texture. Team your cut-out sandals with an on-trend spotty tee and make sure your jeans have a cuff.

With designers like Jimmy Choo, Valentino and McQueen championing the shoes in their collections, it’s no wonder that the pointed toe flats are popular with the most style conscious shoppers. This pair from Rock and Rags by Firetrap have extra SS14 appeal because they also have the holographic trend covered. Pair the look with a set of floral culottes and a crochet t-shirt.

Just like acid wash denim and scrunchies – another 90s favourite has been restored to its former glory – mules are once again having a moment. This time round it’s all about minimalism – you won’t go wrong with this all black pair from Firetrap. These will look amazing with your ripped jeans and a slogan tee – but if you want to dress the look up, try this drop waist dress from Zack and an embellished kimono.

If you’re not ready to give up boots for the Summer, make sure you add a pair of Rock and Rags by Firetrap Calvin Boots to your wardrobe, the thick rubber cleated sole and block heel with lace ups are the perfect transitional piece. To soften your outfit, pair the Calvin boots with an embellished playsuitand a classic waterfall cardigan in grey.
